Having received an engineering diploma from INSA in Lyon and an MBA from ESCP, Stéphane Aubarbier started his career as a test engineer at Assystem where he worked as a site manager and project manager principally in the automotive industry until 1995, when he turned all his attention into growing the automotive sector into the 2nd biggest sector for Assystem (after nuclear).

In 2001, he returned to Assystem to relaunch their nuclear sector, which had become the third largest sector of the company, after aerospace and automotive. In 2003, he took over management of Assystem Services (process engineering and automation). In 2005 he became the Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors, and in 2010 became the CEO of the Energy and Infrastructure Division (heading around 4500 collaborators who generate almost €400 M in revenue.)
He is also the Vice President in charge of exports at the heart of the French Strategic Committee of the Nuclear Sector since its creation in 2011, and between 2012 and 2014, was the President of the Professional Syndicate of Engineering.
